Summit Carbon Solutions today (Thur) announced that Iowa landowners have voluntarily signed easement agreements accounting for two-thirds of the company’s proposed pipeline that will run through parts of state.
According to a news release, a total of 1,050 landowners across 29 Iowa counties have signed 1,840 easement agreements with Summit Carbon Solutions. The pipeline would run through area counties including Ida, Cherokee, O’Brien, Clay, and Palo Alto.
Several other companies are also proposing to build carbon capture pipelines across Iowa, as well as surrounding states. Some environmental organizations are against the proposed pipelines. Concerns have also been raised that the companies may resort to eminent domain in order to obtain easements that can’t get voluntarily.
