Storm Lake Police have charged a 15-year-old male in connection with a reported sexual assault involving a minor. The incident was reported on Saturday and is alleged to have occurred the prior evening at a residence in Storm Lake.
Following an investigation, police allege the victim—under the age of 18—was sexually assaulted by the suspect, who is also from Storm Lake. The teen was taken into custody on Tuesday and issued a juvenile complaint for third degree sexual abuse, a Class C Felony.
He was transported to the Cherokee Youth Emergency Services Center in Cherokee, pending an appearance in juvenile court.
The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office, Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office, UnityPoint Health St. Luke’s Child Advocacy Center, and the Ames Police Department.
