The Storm Lake Police Department responded Sunday afternoon to a report of a domestic disturbance involving a firearm at a home on North Seneca Street.
Officers arrived around 12:40 p.m. and attempted to make contact with those believed to be involved.
After investigating, police say the reporting party admitted the incident had not occurred and confessed to providing false information. Authorities determined there was no firearm or disturbance at the residence.
As a result, authorities charged a 16‑year‑old Storm Lake female with false reports to public safety, a Class D felony. She was referred to juvenile court and released to a parent at the scene.
