Storm Lake Police Department Again Taking Part in Patriot Challenge

The Storm Lake Police Department will again have a team in the Patriot Challenge event this year.

The Patriot Challenge program, formerly known as “Run Ranger Run” began over a decade ago. The program started when Army Ranger Cory Smith ran 565 miles from Fort Benning in Georgia to his home in Indiana, seeking to raise awareness to the transition difficulties many military service members face as they return to civilian life.

Each February, the military community and civilian patriots log miles running, walking, or biking to raise funds that go toward mentoring and integration help for service members and veterans. Teams attempt to collectively reach or exceed 565 miles.

The Storm Lake Police Department has been participating in the Patriot Challenge since 2016. The team this year consists of Mitch McDonald, John Bauer, Cody Cameron, Dulce Salinas, Jessica Meyer, Tyler Munden, Bre Nieland, and Chris Cole.
