Storm Lake Man Arrested on Felony Warrant, Driving While Barred

The Storm Lake Police Department arrested a local man late last Tuesday night after a traffic stop.

At about 11:40 p.m. on Jan. 7, an officer stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Flindt Dr. The driver was identified as 28‑year‑old Rafael Huerta Garcia of Storm Lake. Police say Huerta Garcia was wanted on a Buena Vista County warrant charging him with violation of probation in connection with third offense operating while intoxicated, a Class D felony.

Officers also determined Huerta Garcia’s driving status was barred in Iowa. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Buena Vista County Jail.

Huerta Garcia was booked on the felony warrant and an additional charge of driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was held on a $7,000 bond.
