Storm Lake Man Arrested in Hickory Lane Burglary

The Storm Lake Police Department has arrested a local man following a burglary investigation on Hickory Lane.

Authorities say the incident began around 6 a.m. Monday. Police allege 31‑year‑old Jose Rivera Martinez of Storm Lake forcefully entered a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Hickory Lane while the victim was inside, stealing a cell phone before fleeing the area. Officers searched for Rivera Martinez but were unable to locate him at that time.

Later that evening, at approximately 6:25 p.m., police were again called to the same block of Hickory Lane. This time, officers located Rivera Martinez and took him into custody without incident.

As a result, Rivera Martinez has been charged with second degree burglary, a class C felony. He was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail, where he was booked and held on a $10,000 bond.

Storm Lake Police continue to investigate the case.
