The Storm Lake Knights of Columbus are continuing their mission of service this season with two significant donations.
The council recently directed $1,000 to the Siouxland Soup Kitchen in Sioux City. The gift comes from the Knights’ “Cans for a Cause” recycling project, which turns redeemable bottles and cans into charitable funds.
In addition to the monetary support, members have begun volunteering monthly at the Soup Kitchen. Deacon Rick Rohr organizes a team of six Knights to serve meals, reinforcing the group’s commitment to addressing food insecurity across the region. The Soup Kitchen provides free meals daily to anyone in need, welcoming both donations and volunteers year‑round.
Closer to home, the Knights partnered with parishioners at St. Mary’s Catholic Church during Respect Life Month to support Hope For Life, Storm Lake’s pregnancy resource center.
Together, they delivered a $500 donation—also raised through can redemption—along with a truckload of diapers collected by parishioners. Hope For Life staff say the gifts will provide immediate relief for families, with diapers distributed through its material‑support program and funds directed toward client services and parenting resources.
Grand Knight Alex Berry praised the collaboration, noting that Respect Life Month is about walking with families in practical, meaningful ways. Hope For Life, located on Oneida Street, continues to offer pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, counseling, and material support, and welcomes ongoing community involvement.
The Knights’ “Cans for a Cause” drive remains active, with proceeds directed to local charities. Collection bins are set up year-round in the Hy-Vee and Fareway parking lots, as well as near L&G Products on the east side of Storm Lake.
