St. Mary’s Students Selected for Regional Honor Band and Choir

Storm Lake St. Mary’s students were recently selected to participate in two regional honor music events, representing the school in both band and choir performances.

On Saturday, St. Mary’s fifth‑ and sixth‑grade band students will travel to Carroll for the Heartland 5/6 Grade Honor Band. Students were chosen for the ensemble and have been preparing their music in advance before they will join peers from across the region for a full day of rehearsal and a culminating concert. Those selected include:

• Alisson Guardado Viscarra, 6th grade – clarinet

• Nora Schimmer, 5th grade – flute

• Sebastian Trejo, 5th grade – alto saxophone

• Liam Smith, 5th grade – baritone

Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, April 21, St. Mary’s students also took part in the ICDA 5/6 Grade Honor Choir in Orange City. Participants learned four pieces at school before joining more than 200 students for rehearsals and an evening performance. Representing St. Mary’s were Amy Gomez Miramontes and Lincoln Berg.
