St. Mary’s Celebrates Leadership Transition and New School Bus Blessing

St. Mary’s Catholic School in Storm Lake is marking a season of gratitude and growth with two major updates.

After decades of service, longtime educator Ryan Berg officially concluded his role as grades 6–12 principal in June. While stepping away from daily school leadership, he will continue to serve the St. Mary’s community as Director of Development and Alumni Outreach.

In this new role, Berg will work remotely from Bettendorf while traveling to engage alumni and benefactors. He’ll also support the school’s ongoing campus master plan, which could lead to a future capital campaign and building project.

Last Wednesday, St. Mary’s held a Bus Blessing ceremony at the Panther Fair to celebrate the arrival of a new school bus. The vehicle was funded through generous donations made during the school’s Ball & Auction event in March. Father Lingle led the blessing, offering prayers for safety and gratitude for the community’s support.

St. Mary’s continues to welcome students of all grade levels and faith backgrounds, with enrollment still open for the 2025–2026 school year.

The Bus Blessing marked the arrival of the school’s newest addition to its transportation fleet, made possible by generous donors through the Fund A Cause initiative at the March Ball & Auction. The event celebrated community, faith, and the promise of safe travels for students in the coming school year. (Photo submitted)
