SLPD: Woman Led Storm Lake Chase With Three Young Children Inside

A Sioux City woman is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly leading Storm Lake Police on a pursuit Saturday night with three young children in her vehicle.

Police were alerted around 9 p.m. to a reckless driver entering Storm Lake from the south. Officers spotted the vehicle—a black 2007 Infiniti G35—traveling at a high rate of speed on the shoulder. When police attempted a stop near Abner Bell Road and West Milwaukee Avenue, the driver accelerated and continued driving erratically.

The pursuit ended several blocks later in the 400 block of East 13th Street. Police say the driver, 24‑year‑old Roda Girah, refused to exit the vehicle and was forcefully removed. Officers allege they found multiple alcohol containers and a THC vape device inside, and that Girah showed signs of alcohol consumption. Three children under the age of seven were also in the vehicle without child restraints.

Girah was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail, where she was charged with felony eluding; three counts of child endangerment; operating while intoxicated; hemp inhalation; open container; and several traffic violations, including failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and failure to secure a child.

She was held on a $5,000 bond.
