Sen. Evans Not Seeking 4th Congressional District Seat

Following Storm Lake Democrat Ashley WolfTorabane’s announcement earlier this week that she is seeking Iowa’s 4th Congressional District seat, Republican Sen. Lynn Evans of Aurelia has now announced he will not be running for the election.

Sen. Evans launched an exploratory committee in May regarding a possible run for the seat. Yesterday, he announced his intention not to seek candidacy. He will instead seek re-election to the Iowa Senate next year. Sen. Evans currently represents District 3, which includes Buena Vista, O’Brien, and Osceola and portions of Cherokee and Clay counties.

Iowa’s 4th Congressional District is currently overseen by Rep. Randy Feenstra. The Republican from Hull has announced an interest in running for Iowa governor, but has not officially announced his candidacy.

WolfTorabane is the only Democrat who has announced her candidacy for the 4th district seat, while two Republicans, Sioux City native Chris McGowan and Iowa House Majority Leader Matt Windschitl, have also announced their candidacies.
