New Immigration Services Program Launched

A new program and community partnership has been launched to help northwest Iowa residents with immigration and additional support services.

The partnership, known as “Welcome” is a partnership between three entities including The Diocese of Sioux City, Catholic Charities of the Sioux City Diocese, and also an immigration attorney with the Siouxland Immigration Law Firm.

The Diocese of Sioux City is funding the program for its entirety. “Welcome” allows people living in any of the Diocese’s 24 counties, which includes Buena Vista and surrounding counties, access to high quality immigration legal services, plus the additional support of a case manager without any cost barrier. The attorney will consult with clients to address their individual immigration concerns and determine possible options. She will also assist with the preparation of applications and documentation needed for family reunification, naturalization, travel, employment authorization, and more.

“Welcome” is already accepting clients. A case manager will also be available. Catholic Charities of the Sioux City Diocese includes an office in Storm Lake.
