Meth Arrests Follow Clay County Traffic Stop

Two northwest Iowa residents were arrested last week following a late-night traffic stop in rural Clay County.

Last Monday, Sept. 1, a Clay County Deputy pulled over a vehicle near the 3600 mile of 340th Avenue, driven by 22-year-old Kaden Knephoff of Gillett Grove.

Deputies reported detecting the odor of controlled substances, prompting a search that uncovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Knephoff and his passenger, 19-year-old Alexis Wunder of Spencer, were taken into custody and transported to the Clay County Jail.

Wunder faces multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, minor in possession of tobacco, no insurance, and operating without registration.

Knephoff was charged with second-offense possession of methamphetamine—an aggravated misdemeanor—along with several simple misdemeanors.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office and Bud’s Towing Service.
