A Laborshed Employment Study is being conducted for the Storm Lake area.
The effort is a result of a partnership between Iowa Lakes Corridor Development, Iowa Workforce Development, and the Iowa Economic Development Authority. The study will geographically define which communities contribute to the Storm Lake workforce, regardless of political boundaries. The purpose is to measure the availability and characteristics of Storm Lake area workers.
Letters are being mailed to randomly selected households asking residents to take a confidential online survey. Following the conclusion of the online surveying efforts, Iowa Workforce Development will conduct telephone surveying in the area through a third-party vendor. Answers are completely confidential.
Iowa Workforce Development conducts Laborshed studies across the state every year. Results are available on the IWD website.
