Memorial services for Jerry L. Bruce, 82, of Aurelia will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 31, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, with Pastor Linda Morris officiating.
Inurnment will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Aurelia. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, with the family present, at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia.
The Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.
Jerry Lee Bruce was born December 3, 1940, the son of Clifford W. and Florence H. (Hahn) Bruce at Cherokee. He graduated from the Aurelia High School in 1959. On January 19, 1963 Jerry married Joleen Deniece Rapp at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia. Over the years Jerry worked for Bruce Implement in Aurelia, Walnut Grove Feed at Cherokee, Grundman Hicks Construction in Cherokee, drove for Mobil tank wagon service in Aurelia, and Wilson/Tyson Foods in Cherokee, and drove school bus for many years. He retired on December 3, 2010. Jerry was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia, and the Knights of Pythius. He enjoyed fixing lawn mowers, fishing, golf, and doing small engine repair.
Jerry died Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Preceding Jerry in death were his parents, his wife Jolene on November 27, 2018, one brother, Dennis Bruce, and one granddaughter, Lindsey (Bruce) Reicks.
Left to cherish his memory are his four children; Tammy Jones of Fairfield, IA, Deloy and his wife Wendy Bruce of Sioux City, IA, Darin and his wife Angie Bruce of Aurelia, and Tricia and her husband Rusty Tracy of Sahuarita, AZ. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; Tyler and wife Chaella Youde of Omaha, NE, Morae and husband Karl Metcalf of Birmingham, IA, Jacob and wife Ashley Bruce of Cherokee, IA, Jared and wife Molly Bruce of Spirit Lake, IA, Seth and wife Maribeth Bruce of Sioux City, Aaron Bruce of Estherville, IA, Courtney Bruce of Aurelia, Samantha Tracy, Cole Tracy and Baylie Tracy all of Sahuarita, AZ, and grandson-in-law Gary Reicks of Sioux City, eleven great-grandchildren; Avery, Grady, Cully, Pacey, Nolan, Landon, Lucan, Bennett, Aubrey, Brodie, and Sebastian. Also surviving are two brothers, Danny and wife Kathy Bruce of Vacaville, CA, and Terry and wife Sylvia Bruce of Marion, IA, one sister-in-law, Susan Rapp of Phoenix, AZ, and other relatives and friends.
