The Fonda Municipal Swimming Pool is closed until further notice after a broken underwater light cover caused glass to enter the pool.
City officials say Iowa regulations require any pool containing glass to be fully drained to ensure all fragments are removed. The pool will remain closed while crews drain the water, clean the basin and conduct inspections before refilling and reopening.
The city says the closure is necessary to protect public safety and that updates will be provided as the cleanup progresses.
