A fatal head-on collision in Pocahontas County claimed one life yesterday afternoon.
The Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened just after noon—around 12:02 p.m.—on Iowa Highway 4, north of Pomeroy in the 60,000th block, also known as 220th Avenue.
Deputies arrived to find one driver deceased and trapped inside their vehicle. The other driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics. No hospital transport was needed.
Authorities have not released the names of those involved, and the Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
Emergency crews from Pocahontas Police, Pocahontas Community Hospital, Palmer EMS, and fire departments from both Palmer and Pocahontas responded to the scene.
