South Central Calhoun scored 30 first quarter points en route to a 96-88 win over Storm Lake in a non-conference boys basketball game played Thursday night at Rockwell City.
The Titans biggest lead was 52-28 late in the 2nd quarter and they took a 55-36 lead into the halftime break. The Tornadoes never gave up and battled back to within six points at 70-64 late in the 3rd quarter but that’s the closest they would get.
Eli Wheelock scored a game high 31 points and Tyler Lightner and Gavin Batta each tallied 23 points. SCC is now 16-4 and will open 2A tournament play at home next Thursday against either Odgen or Clarion-Goldfield-Dows.
Storm Lake was led in scoring by Jaidyn Coon who made 11-of-14 shots and poured in 28 points, Justin Guynn added 27. The Tornadoes are now 4-15 overall and will host Sioux City-East next Tuesday night.
