Storm Lake’s Star Spangled Spectacular will open its 2026 celebration with the annual Classic Car Cruise & Show on Friday, July 3, bringing an evening of cars, music and family activities to Sunset Park.
This year’s event ties into the Spectacular’s theme, “Built on Freedom. Bound by Community.” Classic cars, sports cars, motorcycles and other unique vehicles are invited to take part in the cruise. No registration is required. Participants should gather at 4 p.m. at the Storm Lake Administration Building at 824 Flindt Dr. The cruise will depart at 4:45 p.m. and follow a route around the lake coordinated by Jason and Robert Knapton.
Residents along the route are encouraged to watch from their homes, while spectators can gather at Sunset Park for the evening’s activities. Food vendors will begin serving at 5 p.m., followed by the Classic Car Show at 5:30 p.m.
Family‑friendly events will continue throughout the night, including the Kiddie Parade, balloon art and live music from PetRock Band, which returns to the bandshell stage at 7 p.m.
The celebration resumes Saturday, July 4, with the Ride‑Run Around the Lake. Registration is open at runsignup.com. The annual Big Parade along Lakeshore Drive begins at 10:30 a.m., and businesses, organizations and community groups are encouraged to participate.
More than 30 food vendors, live music and family activities will fill the day before the festivities conclude with the fireworks show at 10 p.m. over Storm Lake.
