City Rolls Out Online Booking as Campground, Shelter Reservations Open

Campground and park shelter reservations in Storm Lake are now open, as the city launches a new online system designed to make booking easier for residents.

The city’s new recreation management platform went live Wednesday morning, allowing users to reserve sites at Sunrise Pointe Campground as well as shelters and event spaces in city parks. The system is intended to streamline the process with online registration and payment, replacing the need for phone calls or in‑person visits.

Anyone planning to book a campsite or shelter this season must first create an online account. Residents can register by visiting stormlake.org/reservations or sunrisecampgrounds.com, where they can enter their information and immediately begin making reservations.

Sunrise Pointe Campground includes 101 sites, ranging from primitive tent camping to large pull‑through RV pads with full amenities. Several park facilities are also available to reserve throughout Storm Lake, including the enclosed shelter with kitchen facilities at Chautauqua Park, open shelters at Awaysis Park, Sunrise Park, and Frank Starr Park, and the Great Lawn at Awaysis Park for larger gatherings and events.

City officials note that all reservations are being accepted on a first‑come, first‑served basis now that the system is open.
