Buena Vista County officials say gravel road conditions are a growing concern heading into fall.
At last Tuesday’s county board of supervisors meeting, officials discussed the impact of a wet summer and the need for more material on rural roads.
Supervisor Paul Merten voiced frustration over thin gravel coverage.
County Engineer Bret Wilkinson acknowledged delays in shouldering and driveway work, but said graveling will ramp up in September.
Buena Vista County Farm Bureau representative Mitch Sievers echoed community concerns.
Supervisors emphasized the importance of preparing roads before harvest and pledged to prioritize high-traffic areas like those surrounding C-49.
