BV County Engineer Updates Supervisors on Platinum Crush Road Project

Buena Vista County Engineer Bret Wilkinson provided another update on the Platinum Crush road project to the Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors during its regularly scheduled weekly meeting yesterday morning (Tuesday, July 22) at the county courthouse in Storm Lake.

Last week, Wilkinson informed the board that Mid-American Energy had sent changes for right-of-way easements for Phase 2 of the project. He said county attorney Paul Allen reviewed the information Monday night and was hopeful he would be able to kick the documents back to Mid-American yesterday.

After Mid-American signs the documents, Wilkinsonโ€™s office will need to provide a final signature, then the county can move forward with bid letting for the second phase of the project, he said.

Phase 2 of the project involves resurfacing about two miles of 600th Street and 80th Avenue and connecting the stretch of roadway to the new pavement near the exit of the Platinum Crush plant, which is located east of Alta.

Following the completion of Phase 2, progress on the third and final stage of the repaving project can begin.
