Apartment Fire Displaces Residents in Storm Lake

The Storm Lake Fire Department is investigating the cause of an apartment fire that displaced several residents late last week.

Crews were called at 10:34 a.m. Thursday to 504 West 8th Street, Apartment D. By the time firefighters arrived, the blaze had already burned itself out—but not before causing heavy interior damage.

Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras to ensure the unit was safe before turning the scene over to investigators.

Several occupants were forced from their homes, and the American Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance. The Storm Lake Police Department and Buena Vista County Communications Center also assisted.
