An Albert City man was sentenced to prison on Monday in Buena Vista County District Court on a drug possession charge.
According to the BV County Attorney’s Office, 35-year-old Nicholas Skog previously pleaded guilty to Possession of Methamphetamine 3rd or Subsequent Offense, a class D felony. He was sentenced to serve up to five years in prison with the Iowa Department of Corrections.
According to a criminal complaint, Skog was located in the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center parking lot on the morning of June 24th of 2021. Skog was allegedly in possession of a small baggie that contained a clear crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine. Skog reportedly pulled the baggie out of a pocket in his shorts and swallowed the baggie, which had to be surgically removed at the hospital. The crystal substance was determined to be meth after it was analyzed at the Iowa DCI Lab.
In late August of last year, Skog was arrested by Clay County Sheriff’s deputies in Peterson on multiple felony drug-related charges.
