The Storm Lake Fire Department recently presented their annual awards for exemplary service.
Captain Adam Kutz is the recipient of the Officer of the Year award, and Francisco Vazquez was given the Firefighter of the Year award. This is Kutz’s 24th year serving on the Storm Lake Fire Department. Vasquez has served for 11 years.
The fire department also presented awards for the highest rate of volunteer call responses during 2022. Assistant Chief Todd Larson recorded the highest response rate. Vasquez, along with fellow firefighter Josh Brown, tied for the second highest response rate. Firefighter Andres Espana logged the most training hours last year.
