City of Storm Lake Looking to Bolster Volunteer/Donation Programs

The City of Storm Lake is looking for feedback from the city council, as well as from the public, on ways they can improve their volunteer and donation programs.

During Monday’s city council meeting, Assistant City Manager David Derragon said a volunteer program is made successful through meaningful opportunities…(audio clip below :33 )

Mayor Mike Porsch said this is what the City had in mind when the Storm Lake Proud initiative began a few years ago…(audio clip below :18 )

Storm Lake recently received a grant to assist with enhancing the City’s volunteer initiatives. Derragon said it’s also important for city employees to set an example and take part in volunteer opportunities.

Mayor Porsch pointed out that there are many donation opportunities in the City’s various parks and recreation areas.

The City is welcoming any additions to updated drafts of the volunteer and donation programs, and Derragon hopes that a resolution for approval can be part of the agenda for the next council meeting on March 20th.
