Fort Dodge Man Who Stole Trailer in Marathon Sentenced to Prison After Probation Revoked

A Fort Dodge man, who was charged with stealing a trailer in Marathon two years ago, was sentenced this week in Buena Vista County District Court to serve up to ten years in prison after his probation was revoked.

31-year-old Justin Diggs of Fort Dodge was originally sentenced last October and placed on probation for 1st Degree Theft, a class D felony. The county attorney’s office filed an application to revoke Diggs’ probation on March 22nd of this year after he failed to sign up for probation. Authorities located Diggs in Oregon and transported him back to Iowa for proceedings. At the hearing, Diggs’ probation was revoked and his original sentence was imposed.

On or about July 27th of 2020, Diggs was accused of stealing a trailer in Marathon that contained approximately 16-thousand dollars worth of items.

Diggs was arrested on April 10th of last year on a Buena Vista County warrant and other charges after he drove a vehicle off a road in Clay County. It was learned that Diggs did not have a valid driver’s license or current insurance on the vehicle, and that he had a valid BV County warrant for 1st Degree Theft.
