Woman Charged With Pandering, Harassment After Aurelia Incidents

An Odebolt woman is facing felony and misdemeanor charges following two incidents in Aurelia last month.

Forty-seven-year-old Kristal Miller was arrested on Dec. 31 and charged with one count of pandering for prostitution, a Class D felony, and two counts of first-degree harassment, both aggravated misdemeanors.

According to court documents, Miller entered Casey’s General Store on Pearl Street around 6:15 a.m. on Dec. 18, asking employees and customers for money. She allegedly claimed she was wanted by the FBI and threatened to kill anyone who called police. Miller also reportedly told a store worker she would strangle them with the string from her sweatshirt after the employee refused to remove it.

About 45 minutes later, Miller approached a female employee outside Aurelia Daycare. Investigators say she asked the woman for money and suggested she leave her boyfriend to “party with my boys,” promising payment if she agreed. When the woman refused, Miller allegedly threatened to rob her, steal her car, and take her away to “start a new life.”

Miller remains in custody at the Cherokee County Jail on a $5,000 cash-only bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for today, Jan. 9, at 10 a.m. in Cherokee County District Court, with arraignment set for Jan. 20.
