U.S. Dept. Of Labor Awards Back Wages For 12 Workers At A Spencer Restaurant

Investigators with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division say they’ve recovered 22-thousand dollars in back wages for 12 workers at a Taco Bell location in Spencer.

Agency investigators determined the restaurant allegedly violated terms of the Fair Labor Standards Act when the general manager deducted time from employee’s time cards before submitting the hours to the corporate office for processing.

Wage and Hour District Director Marietta Taylor in Des Moines says the case shows the “costly consequence of totaling hours worked incorrectly”.
