Storm Lake is seeking applicants for a housing rehabilitation program that will provide roof repairs for qualifying owner‑occupied homes. The city expects to assist up to six households through the grant‑funded effort.
To qualify, applicants must own and live in the home, and all residents must verify income and legal residency. Household income must fall within federal low‑to‑moderate income limits, ranging from $54,250 for a single‑person household to $102,300 for households of eight or more. Income thresholds are subject to annual U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development updates.
The program covers exterior roof repairs only, including shingles, underlayment, roof deck work, soffit, fascia and gutters. Selected homeowners may receive up to $24,000 in improvements through a deferred forgivable loan, which becomes fully forgiven if the homeowner remains in the home for five years after construction.
