Storm Lake School Board Holds Property Tax Public Hearing

No public comments were made Wednesday afternoon during a Storm Lake School Board proposed fiscal year 2026 property tax public hearing.

The district’s tax levy is set to increase 78 cents from 17.17 to 17.95. For properties based on a valuation of 250 thousand dollars, residential would go up $7.39 per month, while commercial and industrial would increase $10.47 per month. For agricultural properties with an assessed value of 100 thousand dollars, the monthly increase would be $4.80. The rates must be adopted by April 30th.

Superintendent Stacey Cole made this statement…

Cole pointed out that worker compensation for special needs students costs a lot for the district, and said there are more unknowns this year, especially at the federal level.
