Storm Lake Community Education Director Joe Kucera has been named Grand Marshal for this year’s Star Spangled Spectacular Big Parade on the 4th of July.
A news release from the Spectacular Committee states that Kucera embodies the spirit of service, community pride, and joyful celebration that defines Storm Lake’s Independence Day tradition. Kucera has been Community Education Director for the last nine years.
“I am truly honored to be chosen as this year’s Grand Marshal,” Kucera said. “Thank you for recognizing me, but it is this community’s businesses, volunteers, coaches, schools, university, and city officials that allow me to serve this community in an impactful way.”
“We received a number of strong nominations this year, each highlighting remarkable individuals doing great work in the community,” said Commodore Matt Ricklefs. “But as we read more about Joe and everything he does to support, uplift, and care for Storm Lake, it quickly became clear that he was the perfect choice for this year’s Grand Marshal.”
The Spectacular Commodores encourage all local organizations to join Kucera as he leads this year’s Big Parade. Entry forms for the parade can be found at starspangledspectacular.net. The parade begins at 10:30am on July 4th along Lakeshore Drive.
