Star Spangled Spectacular Theme Revealed ; Volunteers Needed

The theme has been chosen for this year’s Storm Lake Star Spangled Spectacular, which ties in with the City’s sesquicentennial.

Commodores Jared and Ty Eggers on Monday announced that the theme for this year’s 4th of July festival is “Three Cheers for 150 Years.” Ty Eggers credits one of the co-commodores, Liz Smith, for coming up with the theme.

The commodores are anticipating a large celebration this year. They’re working to plan events ahead of time, knowing it will be a busy summer in Storm Lake due to the City’s 150th anniversary, as well as RAGBRAI’s overnight stop later in July.

The commodores are trying to enhance this year’s July 3rd and 4th events through nostalgia, abundant food, and enhancing the notorious Big Parade. A few more volunteers are needed for the Spectacular compared to year’s past. Anyone interested in helping at Sunset Park on the evening of Monday, July 3rd, or with the parade, parking, and more on July 4th can email SLjuly4th@gmail.com.

Sign up for the Big Parade by filling out an entry form at www.starspangledspectacular.net, or at the Storm Lake United office.
