Food vendor registration is now open for this year’s Star Spangled Spectacular, and organizers say they’re working to expand the variety of options available during Storm Lake’s two‑day Independence Day celebration.
The event, held July 3-4, draws thousands to the lakefront each year for live entertainment, the Big Parade, fireworks, and activities throughout the parks. This year, organizers are placing a stronger emphasis on enhancing the guest experience by increasing the number and variety of food vendors located inside the official event areas.
Food Vendor Co‑Chair Alicia Gatzemeyer says the committee is actively seeking new offerings that haven’t been available in past years, including items like pizza, cotton candy, and smash burgers. She says vendors operating inside the parks are fully approved through the event, including required food‑inspection steps, which helps ensure quality and safety for visitors.
Gatzemeyer also encouraged anyone planning to sell food or drinks during the holiday to register through the event rather than setting up outside the designated areas. She noted that pop‑up vendors outside the parks remain subject to inspection and may be cited. Keeping vendors within the parks helps maintain a consistent experience and keeps guests engaged in the heart of the celebration, she said.
To make participation easier, the Spectacular has launched a new fillable Google form for both nonprofit and for‑profit vendors. The online application is available through the event website.
The Star Spangled Spectacular remains one of Storm Lake’s signature community traditions, and organizers say they’re excited to continue expanding food and activity options for 2026.
