A Spencer woman who was driving a vehicle that crashed into a building in Peterson over the weekend sustained minor injuries and faces charges in connection with the incident.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 47-year-old Katrina Heller was driving a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan southbound in the 100 block of Park Street. An accident report says a bottle of water slid under her feet, jamming the gas pedal to the floor, causing her to lose control of the vehicle. It left the road and collided with a building. Heller sustained minor injuries but apparently didn’t seek immediate attention.
An investigation into the incident resulted in Heller being charged with driving while revoked. She was also cited for failure to maintain control.
Damage to the building was estimated at $5,000 while the vehicle sustained an estimated $8,000 in damage. The crash took place a little after 12:30 am Saturday.
