Some of Cherokee County Now in Extreme Drought

A portion of Cherokee County is listed in Extreme Drought, according to the state’s drought monitor that was released on Thursday.

Parts of Plymouth and Woodbury County are also in Extreme Drought. The only drought category higher than Extreme Drought is Exceptional Drought, which none of Iowa is in.

Most of Buena Vista County, as well as parts of all counties that surround BV County, are still in the Severe Drought category.

49.7-percent of the state is at least abnormally dry, up 2.5-percent from the previous week. Almost all of northwest Iowa is at least abnormally dry.
