Sioux Rapids residents will soon get a first look at the final design concepts created through the 2026 Community Visioning Program.
A public presentation is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Sioux Rapids American Legion, located at 200 Main St. Organizers say the event will showcase the landscape and community improvement ideas developed over the summer as part of the yearlong planning effort. The program is sponsored by the Iowa Department of Transportation in partnership with Iowa State University Extension Landscape Architecture and Trees Forever.
Sioux Rapids has spent the past several months gathering public input through surveys, focus groups and a hands‑on design workshop held in June. Residents highlighted transportation access, safety concerns and ongoing flood‑related challenges as major priorities. The community was selected for the 2026 visioning program in part because of significant damage from the 2024 floods.
The Oct. 1 presentation will allow residents to review the final concepts, ask questions and discuss proposed projects with local committee members, the design team and Trees Forever staff. Organizers say community feedback at this stage will help shape future grant applications and guide long‑term improvement efforts.
