According to a press release, on March 11th, the Storm Lake Police Department received a report of an allegation of a sexual assault. Police launched an investigation into the incident, and allege that in December of 2025, a male individual identified as Sergio Montejano Rendon, age 34 of Storm Lake, had engaged in sexual acts with a minor victim under the age of 14 at a residence in Storm Lake. Police allege that during the incident, a separate minor victim under the age of 14 was present, and was assaulted by Montejano Rendon with the intent to commit sexual abuse.
On March 12th, Montejano Rendon was taken into custody by the Storm Lake Police Department and charged with the following:
Sexual Abuse 2nd Degree, a Class B Felony; Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse, an aggravated misdemeanor; Indecent Contact with a Child, an aggravated misdemeanor; and Lascivious Contact with a Minor, a serious misdemeanor.
Montejano Rendon was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail, where he was booked and held on a $30,000 bond.
