Ronald McDonald House of Siouxland is expanding its outreach in Northwest Iowa with a new Ronald McDonald Family Kitchen at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake. The space, made possible through an anonymous donation, will officially open with a celebration at 1 p.m. next Tuesday, Sept. 23, at BVRMC.
The Family Kitchen offers meals, snacks, and beverages to families with newborns or pediatric patients, providing a comforting space during what can be stressful hospital stays. Until now, only limited refreshments were available, delivered by staff.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Siouxland first opened in Sioux City in 1994 and expanded its residential facility in 2022. In addition to the new space in Storm Lake, the organization operates Family Kitchens at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s, Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars, and Sioux Center Health.
