Pocahontas Community Garden

A new community garden will soon be launched at the Pocahontas Food Pantry, according to the Iowa State Extension and Outreach. The garden aims to provide fresh produce to local families in need while fostering community spirit and cooperation. Community members are invited to the inaugural planting event on Tuesday April 30th from 3-5 pm at 406 NW 7th Street in Pocahontas. This community-driven initiative seeks to empower residents, promote sustainability, and support local neighbors facing food insecurity. Volunteers can plant various vegetables and herbs, which will be used at the Pocahontas Food Pantry. No gardening experience is necessary, and tools and materials will be supplied. For more information contact the Extension office at 712-335-3103 or Upper Des Moines Opportunity yat 712-335-3335.
