An Odebolt woman originally accused of pandering and harassment in Aurelia has now entered a guilty plea in Cherokee County District Court.
Court documents show 47-year-old Kristal Miller pleaded guilty on Tuesday, March 3, to one count of first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor. Prosecutors dismissed the original pandering for prostitution charge and one of the two harassment counts as part of the plea agreement.
The case stems from two separate encounters on Dec. 18, 2025, both reported within the city of Aurelia.
Investigators say the first incident happened just after 6:15 a.m. at Casey’s General Store on Pearl Street. According to court records, Miller approached an employee and several customers asking for money. She allegedly claimed she was wanted by the FBI and threatened to kill anyone who called police. Documents also state she asked a store worker to remove a string from her sweatshirt and threatened to strangle the employee when they refused.
Roughly 12 hours later, authorities say Miller confronted a female employee outside an Aurelia daycare. She again asked for money and, according to investigators, suggested the woman leave her boyfriend and “party with my boys,” promising payment if she agreed. When the employee declined, Miller allegedly became angry, yelling and threatening to steal her car and “take her away to her guys to start a new life.”
Miller was arrested on Dec. 31 and initially held on a $5,000 cash-only bond.
With last week’s plea, Miller now faces up to two years in prison under Iowa law for the aggravated misdemeanor harassment conviction. A sentencing date has not yet been set.
