More Drought Showing Up in the State; Little if Any Change in Northwest Iowa

While conditions remain basically the same in northwest Iowa, the recent dry weather has led to more drought showing up on the latest Iowa Drought Monitor.

The map released this (Thur) morning shows nearly 61 percent of the state is at least abnormally dry compared to 51 percent last week.

The northwest half of Buena Vista County remains abnormally dry while the rest is normal. Seven percent of the state has moderate drought, up slightly from last week, which includes most of O’Brien County, and portions of Cherokee and Clay.

All of Calhoun, Pocahontas, and Sac counties have no drought, and much of Ida County has no drought.
