MidAmerican Energy has filed a request with the Iowa Utilities Commission seeking to add a nominal charge to natural gas bills.
The proposed monthly capital investment charge would add 17 cents to the average monthly bill of an Iowa residential gas customer. If approved, the charge will help cover the costs of gas delivery investments that are required by government regulations, as well as projects that enhance the safety of MidAmerican’s natural gas system.
The IUC will review MidAmerican’s request to determine if the projects can be included in the capital investment charge, and when the final charge becomes effective, which could be as early as May 30th. The final charge amount may differ from MidAmerican’s proposal.
