Laurens Woman Arrested on Multiple Iowa Warrants After Attic Search

Authorities in Laurens have arrested a 21‑year‑old woman wanted on multiple warrants across Iowa.

Police say Jackie Jean Michelle Nehring of Laurens was taken into custody Saturday after officers received community tips about her whereabouts. A search was conducted at a residence on Nelson Street, where Nehring was found hiding in attic insulation. She was arrested without incident and turned over to a Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Nehring was wanted on several warrants, including a felony parole violation for escape in Palo Alto County, with bond set at $10,000 cash only. She also faced a warrant from the Iowa Department of Corrections in Sioux City for escape from a residential treatment facility, with bond set at $1,000. In addition, Buena Vista County authorities had issued a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of fifth‑degree fraudulent practice, with bond set at $300.

The Pocahontas/Laurens Police Department, along with the Pocahontas County and Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Offices, coordinated in locating and capturing Nehring.

Investigators continue to seek information on individuals who may have assisted her escape from custody. Anyone with information is asked to contact law enforcement at 712‑841‑4414.
