Laurens Man Facing Criminal Charges

A Laurens man faces criminal charges following a stabbing on Sunday, June 22.

According to a press release, Pocahontas Police Chief Alex Leu says police got two 911 calls from 200 Nelson Street in Laurens, shortly after 7:00 pm. The callers said someone had been stabbed.

Leu says one of the callers was the suspect, 49-year-old Mitchell Nehring. Investigators believe a family dispute turned violent.

Nehring allegedly stabbed the victim, who hasn’t been identified, in the neck. That victim was rushed to a local hospital and then flown to another hospital for what were described as ā€œseriousā€ injuries to their neck.

There’s no word on the victim’s condition. Nehring is charged with aggravated assault.
