A Lakeside man wanted in multiple investigations has been taken into custody following his arrest last week.
Twenty-three‑year‑old Mauricio Alberto Cuevas Zonta was located around 8 p.m. on March 17 by the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Department at a residence in Lakeside. Authorities say multiple warrants had been issued following Storm Lake Police Department investigations spanning the past year.
According to police, investigators allege that on three separate occasions—from the summer of 2025 through February of this year—Cuevas Zonta delivered quantities of marijuana to another individual in Storm Lake. Each incident resulted in a felony controlled-substance charge.
Police also allege that Cuevas Zonta was responsible for a vandalism incident on the Buena Vista University campus last November. Investigators say he intentionally damaged a statue on campus, causing an estimated $20,000 in damage. That incident resulted in a charge of first-degree criminal mischief, a class C felony.
Following his arrest, Cuevas Zonta was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail, where he was booked on all four felony charges and held on a $15,000 bond.
