Kevin McKinney Resigns from Storm Lake City Council

Storm Lake City Council member Kevin McKinney has announced his resignation.

McKinney, who served Storm Lake for seven years, announced his decision during last night’s council meeting. His final meeting will be on September 2.

Citing recent health challenges, McKinney says his ability to serve the community has become limited.

McKinney reflected on his time in office with emotion and gratitude.

Despite stepping away, McKinney encouraged the council to continue supporting key initiatives, including child care and the development of the dredge site.

Mayor Mike Porsch praised McKinney’s leadership and dedication.

McKinney originally joined the council by appointment and hopes his successor will be selected in the same way.
