Information Sought in Case of Man Who Received Life-Threatening Head Injury in Lake View

Sac County authorities are seeking information from the public regarding a man who was severely injured in Lake View this past weekend.

According to the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, 50-year-old Stanley “Sam” Mortensen II was found unresponsive and lying in the street in the 100 block of West 4th Street in Lake View shortly after 1am last Saturday. When first responders arrived, Mortensen was standing and leaning against his truck that was parked in the middle of the street. Mortensen could not tell responders what had happened. He had an injury to the back of his head, and was bleeding from the right ear.

Mortensen was transported by EMS to Loring Hospital in Sac City. Following examination, Mortensen was air-lifted to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. He is being treated for a life-threatening head injury.

Law enforcement is aware that Mortensen was at least involved in a verbal argument with a female and another male who were on a motorcycle. Those individuals have been identified by authorities. An initial investigation was conducted by the Lake View Police Department. On Monday, the Sac County Sheriff’s Office was asked to conduct any further investigation.

If anyone has any information in this case, they are asked to contact Sac County Sheriff’s Detectives.
