More than 60 people were at a groundbreaking ceremony Monday evening for a new Sioux Central Agricultural Education greenhouse outside the school in Sioux Rapids.
Sioux Central FFA members have raised over 84-thousand dollars for the project. Students have spent the last two years writing grants, filling out applications, and talking to community members to help raise funds. Financial contributions have been made by the Sioux Central School Board, Sioux Central FFA fundraisers, multiple grants, and several others.
Sioux Central Ag Education Instructor Melanie Bloom hopes the greenhouse will be operational in August for the start of the upcoming school year.
