Storm Lake police say a Fort Dodge man is facing multiple felony charges after investigators linked him to a series of fraudulent purchases at Bomgaars stores across Iowa—including the Storm Lake location.
The case began on Jan. 8, when the Storm Lake Police Department was notified that several Bomgaars stores had reported thefts dating back to early December. According to investigators, 40‑year‑old Duke Davis is accused of walking into five Bomgaars locations in central and northwest Iowa and charging merchandise to a former employer’s account.
Police allege Davis forged another employee’s signature during each transaction, allowing him to walk away with more than $7,300 in merchandise without authorization.
After identifying Davis as the suspect, Storm Lake police applied for arrest warrants. On March 23, Davis was transferred from the Webster County Jail to the Buena Vista County Jail, where he was booked on three felony charges: ongoing criminal conduct, forgery, and second-degree theft.
Davis is being held on a $32,000 bond.
Storm Lake police say the case remains under investigation.
